MY BIG BANG

MY BIG BANG actually was a name of the orientation day for the first year students School of Housing, Building and Planning 2009/2010. Well it was held on 09th July 2009 which was involved all first year student of HBP. It had been organized by our senior.

On 09th July 2009 at 05.15p.m.,all first year student  had been asked to gather at the School of Housing, Building and Planning. Then we were divided into two different group. One big group will having a netball match and the other group will having a futsal match.  The netball  match  was held at  the field near the  Batu  Uban  entrance while the futsal  match  was held  at the  futsal court  in USM Stadium.

At 5.30p.m.,students that participated in this match were required to take their place as soon as possible. While the other that did not involved with any of this two games can choose where they wanted to go either support their friends in netball match or futsal match.

I decided to see the futsal match. So, me and my friends went to the stadium by taking a bus. There were many teams joined this games. There also had girl teams joined this futsal match. Altogether, they were four girl teams joined this games. There were teams Trelicious, Rock Apple and Committee.

Eventhough the girls team of junior did not knew to play futsal very much but they had tried their best played in this game. The match between the girls team were started at 6.15p.m. Prof. Dr. Aldrin was the referee of the girls match. Almost at 7.00 p.m, the games finished.

At 2.30 p.m. we had been asked to gathered at E48B after the friday prayer. Today will be our opening ceremony day. At about 3 p.m. all the VIP members entered to E48B. First, our senior, Mohamad Ridzwan bin Zulkifli as the emcee together with Aufa binti Abdul Rahman invite the last year King, Ahmad Idris to give us a speech. After that, Professor Ir. Dr. Mahyuddin bin Ramli giving a short speech to us and 'merasmikan' this orientation. Before the ending of the opening ceremony, the senior give us some briefing about the progressing of the orientation.

At 8.30 p.m. we having our ice breaking at Dataran Merah. Each group had given a task. We need to build our own sculpture using the 4 pieces of yellow manila card. Other equipment not provided so each member of the group need to bring it such as scissors, glue, stapler, permanent markers and sellotape. I'm from group 9 and my leader is Mohd Shafiq bin Johari. Our group name is CURIOUS. Besides that, we need to create a cheers that is related with our group name.

Then each group had to present their work in front of other groups. The super duper seniors are the judges. They also comment and critic our work and also give the mark for each group.

11 JULY 2009 : SPECIAL MODULE & EXPLORACE

At about 9 a.m. all of us gathered at Dataran Merah. It was a rainy day. This time we were provided with a pack of straw, rafia string, a plastic bag, an egg and newspaper. We were asked to create something using those thing to protect the egg. This task was 'soft-landing project'. After we finished doing this, we needed to dropped this egg from the 3rd floor and we had to make sure that the egg was landing safely without cracked or broken.

After the break, we started the soft landing session. All the groups gathered at Dataran Merah to do the final assessment of our product. Everyone was very anxious to see whether their egg safe or not. The moment to fall down it, each group need to sing their cheer before make the landing. My group did our cheers and the landing began. The egg landed quite fast but our did not cracked or broken. Alhamdulillah, we succeed.

At 8.30 p.m.  we had our explorace. It was raining but our session continued. My group had to combine with group 10 in this game. So now after combined together, we were the group no. 5. Before we started the game, our handphones and wallet were kept by the seniors. We were given instruction on how to play when started the game. The game then begin.

We had given a clues before begin and need to find the station or the check-point of the clues before we got another clues. There are all 8 station that we need to find. Each of the station had their own assignment before we can get another clue. It's fun. We had to sing, act, jump, crawl and also our face had been make up with flour and egg. Every station had their own tricks. We really enjoyed and had a great time that night. Eventhough the games make us dirty and untidy but we got the great experience from it.

The game finished at about 1 a.m. in the morning.

12 JULY 2009 : PERFORMANCE & GRAND DINNER

This is the last day of our orientation day. We started at 10.30 a.m. We need to discuss a performance for grand dinner at night. All groups need to make a performance which is the theme of the performance is 'metamorphosis'. Our group combined with group 10 discussed to dance. We picked the song for the dance and then started to practice. The songs are from the year of 80's until milennium year.

At 8.30 p.m. we need to gather at usual place for grand dinner. Everyone must wear a mask because the theme is masqurette. The grand dinner start by a speech from deputy dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aldrin bin Abdullah. Then the performance began while others enjoyed the dinner. Our group got the 3rd turn to performed. I was really nervous that time and also with my friends. But, we just do as best as we could perfomed on the stage.

After all group have presented their performance, it was the prize giving ceremony. It was a big surprise when our group got the 2nd place on the performance. It was lucky to us. Before the dinner end, the Queen and King had been chosen. King title for this year given to Faiz bin Fuad while the Queen title given to Farah Diyana binti Rozhan.

Lastly, we all need to settle down everything by help to stack back all the chairs and tables. It was a great night and I really enjoyed it.
